Last night I was very happy to chat with Kait Borsay from Times Radio on the topic of Christmas and the new ‘Rule of Six’.
It’s something that I’ve been asked to comment on a few times now, and I can see why. We’re in such a unique and unpredictable situation, and I’m sure many of us are wanting to cling onto anything somewhat guaranteed. And Christmas can seem like that thing.
This might be made a little more difficult with the new Rule of 6 in place, as we won’t be able to have the usual large, jolly, distant family and friends gatherings that we’re looking forward to.
As cases are beginning to spike again, just as we thought there was a light at the end of the tunnel, we may find ourselves in another lockdown.
This is why it is as important as ever for us to do this next phase of lockdown correctly and to give ourselves the best possible opportunity to celebrate Christmas – given the circumstances.
It’s normal to feel disheartened, but what we’re finding is happening is people are more frustrated than scared. Meaning, there’s going to be more rule-breaking – and we can’t let this happen, or we will find ourselves in a perpetual cycle.
I want to elaborate more on getting ourselves ready, mentally, for what is to come for the rest of the year. We should never stop considering how we are going to treat each step of this pandemic and come out of it as best we can.
You can listen to my chat with Kait below from around 2 hours 36 minutes.
