It can seem daunting thinking about making a start on your goals. How would you even make a start? What I thought would be helpful is to share my top 5 tips to achieving your goals. Use these tips to begin your journey to a happier more fulfilled life.
Happiness is subjective, we all have our own versions of happiness depending on, for example, our upbringing and our interests. We know what will make you happier yet you don’t always follow your dreams. Maybe you have responsibilities or commitments and so have to keep following the same path. Forever dreaming about a better, more fulfilled and happier life but feeling unable to begin to make that change.
Is that the real reason or would you rather feel that the life you always wanted is there if you tried?
There was an article in the Independent recently highlighting the effect of cyber bullying and trolling on Paris Jackson.
This is not an isolated incident, as many celebrities have had experiences of cyber bullying or being trolled.
Why does everything we do have to be perfect?
We have unrealistic expectations on what perfection is. We dream of undertaking a project or trying something new and expect to be great at it straight away. Expectations are founded with people’s achievements. However what has not been highlighted is the work that they put in to reach that level.’.
Our emotions are ever present in our lives. One moment we can be happy and the next, waves of sadness, anxiety or fear can come over us.
We are taught to run from our more difficult negative emotions (as discussed in the the blog on anger and rage). We are expected to be happy and content all the time but this is not realistic.
We all have flashes of anger and rage throughout the day. I could be that someone cuts you up while driving, your boss shouted at you at work or a partner didn’t do the washing up.
You may think anger and rage are the same emotion but actually quite different.
What is the difference?
How often do you feel overfull after eating? We all sometimes go to a restaurant and order too much or cook too much and keep eating until it’s all gone.
You might have a sweet tooth and can eat an entire bar of chocolate rather than the two or 3 squares.
Everyone’s happiness is individual, and nothing should be more important than your own happiness.
What will make you happy? Some say, ‘money.’
‘If I were rich I would be happy and all my problems would be gone.’
What is it about an action, substance or event that keeps us addicted?
Some can interact with drugs or an action and not get addicted, but for some of us that’s not the case.
The drugs or action become too much and we become enraptured with it. It is too engrossing. We think about it all the time. It takes hold of us. You have to take the first step towards your addiction treatment to get your life back.
We are taught to run from our anxious feelings so that we can remain safe and comfortable.
But at what detriment?
